Hi All,
Just wanting to get the word out that we only have a week to reject a reduction in trading hours and obtain the removal of the lockout.
The Government is canvassing opinions online on six of the recommendations handed down in the parliamentary inquiry.
We cannot afford to be apathetic about this and we need to [...]

It seems like the State Government doesn’t even care about our safety. Kudos Anna Bligh! Way to tackle the problem; maybe if you reduce the amount of police in our streets then that will resolve the problem… sigh
All we ask for is more funding to be provided to our police so they can tackle the [...]

BRISBANE: Inner-city revellers and licensees are mobilising to fight for their right to party.

Organiser Zach Salar said he believed the [...]

The topic being discussed is in relation to a proposal of nightclubs having a curfew applied dissalowing entry after 2am.
I have been involved directly and indirectly in the entertainment industry for approximately 12 – 15 years and i personally see no need for a change in the time for the clubs to lockout patrons.
My questions are as follows:
1. is theyre any evidence to show that the 2am lockout or the 3am curfew will improve anything or has improved anything respectively?.
2. What will happen to all the dancers, musicians, entertainers that work theyre whole lives in this industry only to find that they cannot display theyre talents to the public or earn the living the only way they know how? Will they leave QLD this will have a direct affect on tourism, decreasing state revenue.
The curfew will invadvertently affect the nightclubs and popularity on a worldwide scale. I have travelled and i know people dont want to come to brisbane, why?. because restrictions are already in place for nightclubs to close or dissalow entry at an unnaceptable time.. etc. Lets face it.. brisbane has a river… and…. an awesome entertainment scene, which is expected of a city(until now) ?
The nightlife is primarily where people have fun and meet people. The majority of the nightclub patrons are decent outgoing, happy people who just like to socialise. simple
The government is obviously trying to do whats best for the state and that is completly understood, but yeah why is there no police presence in nightclubs who can stop trouble?.. other respected countrys have very minimal problems with no curfew. This decision should definately be revised in the best interest of Brisbane and QLD.
Thats my point of view.
Thanks,
