Queensland Locked Out is working around the clock to come up with new ideas and strategies to fight against proposals of a lockout/ shutdown. QLO is working alongside many different organisations and businesses, as well as patrons and nightlife lovers to form a united front and contest this proposal. Below are a few of the strategies that QLO hopes to implement over the next few months.

Raising Awareness:

Many nightlife lovers are unaware of the reality of this proposal. QLO will be doing all it can and going through any means possible to reach out to the community and raise awareness of the issues at hand. The concern is real, and the likelihood of the earlier lockout/ shutdown being passed through legislation is very high.

Proposing Alternative Solutions:

QLO acknowledge that there is a very serious problem of alcohol-fuelled violence, binge drinking and drug abuse on the streets of our entertainment precincts. However, QLO also know that an earlier lockout/ shut down will merely make matters worse. An earlier lockout/ shutdown will also have dramatic effects on the social life, tourism, economics and employment of our great State. QLO is proposing alternative solutions that are viable and effective while not impacting the community’s social life, tourism, economy and employment.

The Media:

QLO is reaching out to the media to participate in editorials, newspaper articles, radio programs, TV interviews, blogs, social media and so forth, in an effort to raise awareness – not just across the state – but across the country. Over the next few months, QLO’s message will be out there for everyone to see: and around entertainment precincts, at venues, in the press, on the TV, on the radio, and on the internet.

Protests and Demonstrations:

QLO is in the process of organising protests across the major cities around the state. The protests will be against an early lockout/ shut down and in favour of more viable and effective solutions.
Information on these protests will be available soon on our website and facebook page.

Be a part of everything we’re doing and reclaim your nightlife. Let your voices be heard. It will take each member of our community to make a difference.
